Our office’s first client was a financial institution, and representing lenders and borrowers has been an integral part of our practice ever since.
We have closed billions of dollars of loans over the years, ranging from large commercial loans to small business loans. Our clients include business organizations, entrepreneurs, banks, thrifts, insurance companies, finance companies and equity sources, as well as other lenders, borrowers and investors. Our lending practice is national in scope.
We understand that borrowers and lenders create long term relationships, and the loan closing process should enhance rather than harm those relationships. We also recognize, however, that when the parties do not properly attend to details, the relationship can later be jeopardized. We believe our experience can assist clients in creating a sound, long term financing relationship.
Besides helping in putting loans together, we also help take them apart. Many firms separate their loan transactions group from their workout and insolvency group. We have found that, to efficiently close a loan, an attorney should know what happens when things do not work out as planned. Our lending attorneys and creditors’ rights attorneys work together and have substantial experience in handling troubled loans on behalf of both lenders and borrowers.
We regularly represent lenders and borrowers with:
- Real estate loan transactions, including term and construction loans
- Asset-based loan transactions
- Corporate loan transaction
- Bond financing
- Loan participations and syndications
- Specialized transactions, including tax increment financing (TIF), leveraged leases, airplane loans and fleet financing
- Workouts, restructurings and liquidations
